One of my biggest challenges today is finding ways to lower stress at a time when our lives are so hectic. The average person today barely has enough time to drive to and from work, work, come home and help the kids with their homework, have dinner, watch a little television and then get in the required 8 hours sleep needed to do it all again the next day. When the weekend comes there are family activities to participate in, getting all the chores done around the home, and making sure that the kids get to all of their extracurricular activities. Sometime during this busy work week, the average person is supposed to find time to do something relaxing and calming for themselves. The reality is that this just doesn’t happen with most people. In fact most people sacrifice their calm time to make sure that they don’t miss out on any of their scheduled activities.

The results of all of this is that most of us are constantly stressed out. This condition leads to increased health issues, obesity, and an inability to get a good night’s sleep. We then find ourselves exhausted, not feeling well, and even less productive. This of course leads to even more stress. To get off this stress merry go round, we must find ways to relax and let go. The focus needs to be on consistent things that you can do that are easy and relaxing and can happen in your own home. Here are a few of those things.

Turn your Bathroom into a Calming Place

Your bathroom has the right design and appliances to help you relax, or they can be purchased easily. If you do not have one, freestanding baths are a great tool for helping you to relax. First of all is beautiful and just looking at it will calm you down. When you immerse yourself in warm water, it is proven to have a relaxing effect on the body. You will immediately feel better and be transported away from your troubles. If you do not have room for a bathtub, you can consider creating a relaxing environment in your shower.

Today’s bathroom showers offer a wide range of shower heads that can give you many different levels water pressure. You can find shower heads that mimic the rain and that are as invigorating as one found in the best spa. If you going to upgrade your shower and bathtubs, you should also consider doing the rest of the bathroom. New wall mounted mirrors Basin and mixers and even toilets are low cost purchases that can add beauty to your bathroom. You can also select these amenities in colors that have a calming effect so that your bathroom becomes a sanctuary.

Make Your Bedroom Off Limits

Use your bedroom as a room in your house where you can go and are guaranteed calm. Let your kids know that when you’re in your bedroom, you are not to be disturbed. If you find yourself feeling stressed, you can use this room to calm yourself down. Paint the walls in your bedroom light colors that calm and purchase drapes or curtains that allow you to completely darken the room. You can go into this room anytime that you are home turn the lights off and close the drapes and you can immediately create a relaxing environment. You can do this as often as you like, would realize that it might take some time for you to get used to things. After doing it a few times however you will find that you will quickly be more calm and ready to take on the kids again.
